Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of Archives Between Turkey and Serbia

Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of Archives Between The General Directorate of State Archives of the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Turkey and the Archives of Serbia-Cultural Institution of National Importance was signed in Belgrade on October 6, 2015.

Protocol on Cooperation was signed by Assoc. Prof. Uğur Ünal, the General Director of State Archives of the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Turkey and Dr. Miroslav Perišić, the Director of the Archives of Serbia-Cultural Institution of National Importance during the ceremony attended by Mr. Ivan Tasovats, the Minister of Culture and Information of Serbia and H.E. Mehmet Kemal Bozay, the Turkish Ambassador to Belgrade.

After the signing ceremony Assoc. Prof. Uğur Ünal gave a speech and emphasized that archives are historical and cultural sources of the countries and that protocols on cooperation in the field of archives signed with the states which once occurred on the geographical area ruled by the Ottoman Empire have importance for enlightening the histories of countries. He also stated that the signed protocol will provide a basis for activities between the two archives. He expressed that the number of protocols signed by the General Directorate of State Archives of the Prime Ministry of the Republic of Turkey has reached to 42 and that relative activities will continue in the future. Dr. Perišić, in his speech, expressed his pleasure on signing of the protocol on cooperation and the significance of this historic moment.  He also stated that common activities and projects to be implemented within the framework of this protocol will make a major contribution to the cooperation between the archives of two countries.
